YOUR WEBSITE FOOTER IS PRIME REAL ESTATE. STOP WASTING IT.

Most plumbers treat their website footer like a trash drawer. But it's actually prime real estate that can drive calls, boost SEO, and build trust.

Scroll down to the bottom of your website real quick.

Go ahead. I'll wait.

What's down there? Your business name? A copyright notice from 2021? Maybe a link to your web designer's site?

Yeah. That's what I thought.

Your website footer is one of the most underutilized parts of your entire online presence. It shows up on every single page. Every visitor sees it. And you're wasting it on nothing.

Let's fix that.

Why Your Footer Actually Matters

Here's something most plumbers don't realize: your footer appears on every page of your website.

Homepage. Service pages. Blog posts. Contact page. Every. Single. Page.

That makes it one of the most viewed sections of your entire site. And what you put there can directly impact whether someone calls you or bounces.

Plus, Google crawls your footer too. The links, the text, the structure. It all matters for SEO.

So yeah. That copyright notice and "Powered by WordPress" link aren't cutting it.

What Should Be in Your Footer

Here's the winning formula. Based on what we've built into the 50+ plumbing websites we've created.

### 1. Your Phone Number (Big and Clickable)

This is non-negotiable. Your phone number should be in the footer, large enough to see, and click-to-call on mobile.

Someone reads your whole page, gets to the bottom, and thinks "alright, I'm gonna call these guys." If your number isn't right there... you just lost that call.

### 2. Your Service Area

List the cities and neighborhoods you serve. This does two things:

First, it tells visitors "yes, we come to your area." That's a conversion booster.

Second, it tells Google where you operate. Those location names in your footer get indexed and help you rank for "[service] in [city]" searches.

Example: "Proudly serving Austin, Round Rock, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, Georgetown, and surrounding areas."

### 3. A Quick List of Your Services

Link to each of your service pages from the footer. This creates internal links (which Google loves) and makes it easy for visitors to navigate.

  1. Drain Cleaning
  2. Water Heater Installation
  3. Sewer Line Repair
  4. Leak Detection
  5. Emergency Plumbing

Don't just list them. Link them. Each one should go to its own service page.

### 4. Your Business Hours

People want to know if you're available right now. Put your hours in the footer.

If you offer 24/7 emergency service, make that crystal clear: "Available 24/7 for emergencies."

### 5. Your License Number

This builds trust instantly. A visible license number says "we're legit, we're licensed, and we're not hiding anything."

### 6. Trust Badges

Licensed. Insured. Bonded. BBB accredited. Whatever certifications you have, put the badges in the footer.

They reinforce credibility on every page of your site without taking up space in your main content.

### 7. Social Media Links

If you have active social media profiles (Facebook, Instagram, maybe YouTube), link to them from the footer.

Keyword: active. If your last Facebook post was 8 months ago, maybe skip it. An inactive social profile actually hurts trust.

### 8. A Mini Contact Form or CTA

Some of the highest-converting plumbing websites we've built have a simple contact form right in the footer. Name, phone, short message. That's it.

Or at minimum, a strong call to action: "Need a plumber? Call [number] or request a free quote."

What to Remove From Your Footer

Just as important as what to add:

  1. "Powered by WordPress" or "Built by [some web designer]". Remove it. It adds nothing for your visitors and makes your site look generic.
  2. A wall of legal text. Your privacy policy and terms of service should be linked, not pasted in full.
  3. Dead links. Check every link in your footer. If it goes to a 404 page or a dead social media profile, remove it.
  4. Copyright date from 3 years ago. If it says "2022" right now, that screams "abandoned website." Update it or use a dynamic year.

The SEO Bonus

Here's a trick most plumbers don't know.

The text in your footer gets indexed by Google on every page it appears on. So if your footer says "Licensed Plumber serving Austin, Round Rock, and Cedar Park" with links to your service pages...

Google sees that on every single page of your site. According to Moz's local SEO guide, it reinforces your location relevance and your service offerings across your entire website.

That's free SEO. Just from your footer.

not bad for the thing you've been ignoring, huh?

Footer Design Tips

Keep it clean. Keep it organized. Here's a layout that works:

Column 1: Business name, phone number, address, hours Column 2: Services (linked to service pages) Column 3: Service areas (cities you serve) Column 4: Social links, trust badges, license info

Bottom bar: Copyright, privacy policy link, terms of service link.

Clean. Professional. Useful.

On mobile, these columns should stack vertically. Phone number and call button should be the very first thing.

Small Change, Big Impact

Your footer is a 30-minute fix that impacts every page on your website.

Add your phone number. List your services. Show your service area. Display your credentials.

It's not glamorous work. But it's the kind of stuff that separates professional plumbing websites from the amateur ones.

And when a homeowner is deciding between you and the other guy? These details matter.
