BEFORE AND AFTER PHOTOS ARE YOUR SECRET WEAPON. HERE'S HOW TO USE THEM.

You're already taking photos of your work. You're just not using them. Here's how to turn job site photos into a 24/7 sales machine.

You finished a job yesterday.

Ripped out a corroded sewer line. Installed a new one. Beautiful work.

Did you take a photo?

If you did... it's sitting in your camera roll next to 400 pictures of your dog and a blurry screenshot of a meme your buddy sent you.

Nobody will ever see it.

And that's a massive missed opportunity.

Why Before/After Photos Sell Better Than Any Sales Pitch

When a homeowner is deciding whether to call you, they're asking one question:

"Can this person actually do the work?"

You can write "20 years of experience" on your website. You can list your certifications. You can talk about your "commitment to quality."

Or... you can just show them.

A before photo of a destroyed water heater next to an after photo of a clean, professional installation does more selling in 2 seconds than 500 words of copy ever could.

It's proof. Visual, undeniable proof that you know what you're doing.

What to Photograph

You don't need a fancy camera. Your phone is fine.

Here's what to shoot:

Before the job: The problem. The mess. The corroded pipe. The leaking water heater. The flooded basement. The nastier it looks, the better.

During the job: You working. Your tools laid out. The open wall showing the new pipe. The process.

After the job: The finished result. Clean. Professional. Working perfectly.

Take 3-5 photos per job. Takes 30 seconds.

How to Use Them on Your Website

Homepage gallery. A grid of 6-8 of your best before/after pairs right on your homepage. Homeowners scroll through these like candy.

Service pages. On your "Water Heater Installation" page, show before/after photos of water heater installations. On your "Drain Cleaning" page, show drain cleaning results. Match the photos to the service.

Google Business Profile. Upload your best photos weekly. Businesses with photos get 42% more direction requests. Google literally rewards you for this. We wrote a whole guide on the 7 photos every plumber needs on their Google profile.

Social media. If you're on Facebook or Instagram, post a before/after with a short caption. "Replaced a 15-year-old water heater in Phoenix today. Old one was rusting through. New one should last 12+ years."

That's it. Low effort. High impact.

The Trust Factor

Stock photos kill trust. We talked about this in our post on what homeowners actually look for.

But real photos of real work you actually did? That builds trust instantly.

When a homeowner sees a photo of your hands doing the work, your truck in their neighbor's driveway, your tools on a real job site... they feel like they already know you.

And people hire people they trust.
